Crimea may nationalize properties abandoned by Ukrainians

The Crimean occupation authorities can “nationalize” the real estate properties left by the owners. The property without an owner will become municipal property at the initiative of the occupation administrations.

This was stated by the so-called “Deputy Chief of the Registration and Cadastre Committee” Alexei Kostin, reports RIA Novosti.

According to him, the abandoned property can be recognized as municipal one year after the object is registered.

“To take advantage of this opportunity, a representative of a municipality must go to court with a lawsuit to recognize the municipal property right to this property,” Kostin said.

It is also reported that the occupancy administration of a district or city must present documents that confirm that the owner of the property is unknown or has abandoned it.

Recall that in March 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin prohibited Crimeans without a Russian passport from owning land on the occupied peninsula.

On the eve of the UN General Assembly, he supported Ukraine’s strengthened resolution on Crimea.
