The publication notes that in order to have time to use the entire batch, the vaccination rate must at least double. Now the average vaccination rate in Ukraine is around 2,500 vaccines per day, therefore, until June 23, while maintaining existing rates, Ukraine will have time to use only half of imported vaccines.

The expert organization StateWatch requested information from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine about the production date and expiration date of the vaccine. But Deputy Minister Svetlana Shatalova refused to respond, explaining that, in accordance with the manufacturers’ requirements, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements were signed. The ministry added that they contacted Crown Agents (a British company that buys COVID-19 vaccines ordered by Ukraine) on the possibility of providing this data, but received no response.

The first batch of the vaccine arrived in Ukraine on February 23 and vaccination began the next day. Ukraine should have received the vaccine earlier, but this did not happen.

According to a ZN.UA source at the Ministry of Health, two contracts for a vaccine totaling 12 million doses (2 million – $ 5.5 each, obviously Covishield: 10 million doses – $ 9 each , probably Novavax) were signed in December. last year, when the Deputy Minister of Health, Igor Ivaschenko, visited India.

Under the terms of the first contract, Ukraine had to make an advance payment, but did not. The delivery was interrupted. The owner of the plant did not want to send the vaccine to Ukraine at all.
