COVID in Ukraine: the maximum number of named beds

Now in Ukraine, 36 thousand beds have been allocated for coronavirus patients, an additional 16 thousand can be allocated.

Ukrainian hospitals can allocate up to 52 thousand beds for the treatment of coronavirus patients, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said in an interview with LB.ua.

At the moment, 36 thousand beds have already been allocated.

“When a hospital is refurbished, the patient routes change. We clearly know in which region we can change the route. So there is a cardiology department where patients can be brought in, etc. That is why we say that the maximum number of beds that can be deployed under COVID is 50-52000. It is no longer possible. And all these fantasies, you can unfold the beds somewhere, “he said.

The minister is confident that it is not necessary to deploy field hospitals in Ukraine.

“If we fill all the beds that are designated for COVID, then we can consider the question of which stadiums we urgently need to deploy the beds. But this will be a very temporary measure,” he said.

The number of occupied beds is the most critical indicator. “Because this is an indicator of whether we can provide medical care. The capacity, of course, is limited,” Stepanov added.
