The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus, reacted to the positive news of the progress in the development of vaccines against the coronavirus. Gebreisus hopes the vaccine will help end the COVID-19 pandemic.

Said this during today’s briefing at WHO headquarters in Geneva.

“With the latest positive news from vaccine trials, the light at the end of this long dark tunnel is getting brighter,” said the WHO chief.

Gebreisus hopes that the vaccine, along with other measures, will help defeat the coronavirus.

“There is now real hope that vaccines, in combination with other tried and tested public health measures, will help end the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.

Recall that today the British company Astrazeneca has estimated the effectiveness of its coronavirus vaccine at 70%. However, vaccine research is ongoing.

RBC-Ukraine also wrote that after the first tests, the effectiveness of the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine was 95%.
