The Ministry of Health is working to ensure that the vaccine is free for Ukrainians
Ukraine is on the list of countries that will be offered a special price for the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available. For your purchases in the 2021 budget, one billion UAH is provided.
The chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, said this in an interview with Ukrainian radio.
Lyashko noted that the COVAX mechanism has been created in the world. In particular, a financial fund has been formed that purchases a large number of vaccines to provide vaccines for at least 20% of the population of 180 countries in the world.
“Ukraine is also in this mechanism and was included in the list of 92 countries that will be offered a special price for the purchase of the vaccine,” he stressed.
He also added that Ukraine will receive at least 8 million doses if COVAX is activated once against the country, and 16 million doses if the mechanism is introduced twice.
“We calculate if the price that was announced above is offered, this is 1 billion hryvnia, which is provided in the budget for 2021 … We are doing everything possible to make the vaccine free for citizens of Ukraine,” added Lyashko .
We will remember, earlier it was known about the successful vaccine trials of the pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and BioNTech. The manufacturer has already promised a price below market value.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to German Chancellor Angela Merkel with a request to help with the supply of this vaccine to our country.
