If the incidence of coronavirus rises to 20 thousand cases per day, you will have to resort to the triage protocol. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, October 20.
He noted that the pandemic is advancing and the Ministry of Health is preparing for any development of events, including the worst.
Now in Ukraine, the first incidence rate is 5-7 thousand cases per day. “The health system is capable of bearing such a burden, and even 6 months ago, even three months ago, this was impossible,” said the minister.
The second level: the filling of the bottom beds will be approximately 70% throughout the country. In addition, the approximate number of patients with confirmed cases in the country is between 8 and 10,000.
“It is possible that we will be at this level in the coming weeks. In this case, we will increase, as I said before, the number of beds in health institutions by 30% of the total capacity of beds. This is 52,000 beds,” he said Stepanov.
Stepanov said that if the restrictions are not enforced, the third level of coronavirus danger will come. That is, every day between 11 and 15 thousand cases of contagion are registered, while the occupation of the hospitals reaches 80%. In this case, new restrictions will be introduced and the work of field hospitals will be organized.
“The fourth level is when the resources of the health system are exhausted. It is here when the daily number of cases will be about 20 thousand patients per day. Here we will be forced to introduce a triage protocol with the priority of providing assistance”, emphasized the minister.
“I’m sure nobody wants to get to level 3-4,” Stepanov added.
He pointed out that at the moment more than 20 thousand beds have been filled, in total about 52 thousand have been prepared.
Acting previously The director of the Center for Public Health, Igor Kuzin, announced the calculations of the Ministry of Health, according to which in the next month the incidence of viral infections may increase to 20 thousand per day and, in the worst case, up to 35 thousand.
