Ukraine has entered the second phase of its response to the spread of the coronavirus. The country is increasing the number of beds to receive COVID-19 patients.

This was stated in a briefing by the chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko.

The doctor described the tense situation with the coronavirus not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe.

“Ukraine is entering the second stage of response to the spread of coronavirus disease. We continue to expand and increase the number of beds in our health care facilities that will hospitalize patients with coronavirus disease,” Lyashko said.

He added that the government has set itself the task of increasing from 50 to 80 thousand beds that are ready to receive patients with coronavirus.

“80% of them (60 thousand beds) will receive oxygen in a month. In addition, an oxygen supply network has been deployed in the institutions,” said Lyashko.

Let’s remember that at the end of October, the Ministry of Health developed four stages of response to the spread of the coronavirus.

Note that Lyashko reported that Ukraine’s medical system is capable of supporting 15-20 thousand COVID-19 cases per day.

It was also reported that more than 45 thousand beds for COVID-19 have already been introduced in Ukraine. 62.4% of them are employed.

Furthermore, RBC-Ukraine wrote that the government plans to introduce a new quarantine in the country.
