Parliament said why almost 35 billion hryvnia went to the coronavirus fund roads. This sparked a debate.

This is stated in the RBC-Ukraine material “Billions Against the Virus: How the Government Spends Money to Fight the Pandemic”.

The deputy head of the Trukhin budget committee (Alexander Trukhin (“Servant of the people”) said that the construction of roads is an opportunity to get the patient to the hospital on time.

“This is not just communication between settlements. They are also jobs. If a person loses his job or temporarily does not receive a salary, they can give him fish. Or they can give him a fishing rod so that he can catch this fish himself,” he said .

The head of the Chamber of Accounts, Valeriy Patskan, believes that good roads are the “face” of the state.

“However, there are many other infrastructure projects that also require urgent financing, especially during a pandemic. These are, in particular, the construction of hospitals and their equipping with modern equipment,” the official told RBC-Ukraine.

Remember that only about a third of the funds from the COVID-19 fund have been spent – 34.7%.
