In Ukraine, 500 and 200 hryvnia notes are counterfeited most often. The counterfeits are so well made that they cannot always be recognized even under UV light.
This is indicated in the “Today” material. Counterfeits are sold on the Internet. The latest case: the security forces exposed a family who printed forgeries and sold them on social media. Cyber Police Department Chief Inspector Anna Selezneva says the clients were small business entrepreneurs – small shops. These are the stores where you most often pay only in cash.
Vitaliy Kovtonyuk, a senior specialist in the National Bank’s money protection and investigation department, says: to recognize whether it is false or not, it is enough to know three rules.
-
First of all, the actual bill is dense to the touch. Soft on the face, rough on the back.
-
Second, you must look at the bill against the light. The real has an element of the hryvnia sign, but the fake does not.
-
Third, the element is optically changed. The real one is lilac, when you change the viewing angle, it is green. And a fake doesn’t have this effect.
If you find such a bill in your wallet, go to the bank. They will send her there to investigate. It’s free. If the ticket is real, it will be returned to you. If it is false, the cost will not be refunded.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, the situation with counterfeit money has drastically deteriorated in Ukraine. Counterfeits now account for a fifth of the country’s shadow funds.
Previously, high-quality fake dollars appeared, which even special devices cannot always recognize. The management of the National Bank sent a message to the Ukrainian financial institutions describing the tricks used by the counterfeiters.
