The global COVAX mechanism has confirmed the allocation of a coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine. 20% of Ukrainians will be able to get vaccinated for free.

This was announced by Ukraine’s chief health doctor, Viktor Lyashko, on Facebook.

“Today it became known that Ukraine, as one of the countries that is included in the work of the global COVAX mechanism, has the opportunity to receive vaccines against coronavirus disease in doses equal to 20% of the population for free,” he said.

According to Lyashko, about 4 million Ukrainians will be able to get vaccinated in the first half of next year. This will be done with the financial support of international partners and other governments.

“We set ourselves the task of ensuring the immunization of as many of the population as possible with proven, high-quality and safe vaccines in 2021, both through global initiatives and through Ukraine’s state budget,” he said.

The medical director also added that the manufacturer Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine has been included in the global COVAX mechanism.

Note that according to Viktor Lyashko, professional risk groups will receive the coronavirus vaccine first.

“… we are talking about doctors, law enforcement agencies, teachers. In the future, these are people from the medical risk group, where mortality is most recorded after infection, it is about the elderly, the elderly and in this group, people with concomitant chronic diseases “. – He noticed.

We will recall, earlier Lyashko said that Ukraine will receive a maximum of 8.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.

In addition, Ukraine was included in the list of countries that will be offered a special price for the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available.
