Brazil reported the death of a volunteer who participated in the testing of a sample of a coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford. Vaccine testing will continue.

Reported by Reuters.

Details of the trial participant’s health status and cause of death were not disclosed, citing medical confidentiality. The authorities only specified that he was Brazilian, but did not specify where he lived.

Despite the incident, trials of a British vaccine will continue in Brazil. The government also plans to buy the AstraZeneca vaccine and then continue its production in the country.

It was previously reported that in Brazil, Sao Paulo Governor Joao Doria said the federal government had agreed to buy 46 million doses of the Chinese-made coronavirus vaccine. The national immunization program can start from January 2021, becoming one of the first in the world.

Likewise, the European Commission signed an agreement on the purchase of a possible vaccine against the coronavirus with the American developer Johnson & Johnson. This is the EU’s third contract with a vaccine company.
