Ukrainian geneticist Oleksandr Kolyada spoke about what side effects may be due to coronavirus vaccination and whether they should be feared. According to him, the way people in Ukraine relate to vaccination, “it’s bad and scary.”
The qualification survey of the sociological group showed that only 35% of Ukrainians are ready to be vaccinated, another 55% agree to take the vaccine, except for free, and another 40% are categorically against vaccination, according to the program “Breakfast with 1 + 1 “
Alexander Kolyada compares this attitude to the vaccine, to distrust of cars or fumes. According to him, the problem is that people just don’t believe in technology they don’t understand. However, he says that the same trend can be traced around the world:
– It’s somewhere else, somewhere less. In Japan, for example, it is even higher. They have a certain propaganda directed at this. But the whole world … The whole cultural world has a very positive attitude towards vaccination, – says Alexander.
How does the vaccine work?
According to the geneticist, during vaccination, a person is injected with the roan part of the virus, which does not pose a danger to them, but sends a signal to the immune system that it is necessary to produce certain antibodies.
What side effects can there be?
The vaccines currently being developed by major pharmaceutical companies have less than one percent complications. And even this percentage does not represent a particular danger. According to the geneticist, to get to market, the vaccine simply cannot produce a more noticeable “side effect” than a headache or a mild fever.
– Those vaccines that we expect from covid, they have less than one percent, a situation arises in which you only have a temperature of 37.2 a night, your head will simply spin and you will have to sit down a bit – explains Alexander.
When, how and who to get vaccinated?
Vaccine development companies say vaccine distribution will begin in January. But they will probably reach the territory of Ukraine in mid-spring. It is not known how long the immunity by vaccination will last, but by analogy with other vaccines, Alexander suggests that it will be from six months to infinity.
In summer, AstraZeneca (Great Britain), Moderna (USA) and Pfizer (USA) vaccines may appear in pharmacies across the country. Alexander claims that it doesn’t matter which one you choose, as all three manufacturers are respected pharmaceutical giants who can guarantee the quality of their products. But the geneticist expresses a clear distrust of the vaccines used in China and the Russian Federation and urges not to be equal to these countries. There is still little information about the Ukrainian vaccine. But it is known that it will take a long time to manufacture and test for a long time.
At the same time, it is possible that you, who have already had coronavirus and developed immunity, are not vaccinated at all. Your immunity to COVID-19 lasts an average of six months.
What’s the score
– You can and should be vaccinated – says Alexander.
After all, whatever the public’s attitude towards the very idea of vaccines, the facts are on the side of this technology. And there is no other cure for the coronavirus, but in the words of the geneticist, “there is not and there never will be.”
As Vgorode previously reported, the Ministry of Health has already planned how many Ukrainians will be able to count on vaccination against the coronavirus in 2021. Ukraine will receive a part of the planned vaccines for free, the rest has already been planned in the budget.
