Driving in Ukraine several varieties of COVID-19 of the global genetic line Bthat came from China.
This was announced by the Center for Public Health on the official website. Five genetic variants of this line that were found in Ukraine:
-
V1 – a large group of viruses circulating in Europe and originating in Italy;
-
V1.1 – viruses of the B1 genetic line, which differ in three nucleotide substitutions (SNP 28881GA, 28882GA, 28883GC);
-
V1.1.1 – the circulation of these viruses was simultaneously detected in the territory of the EU countries and the UK;
-
V1.5 – a large group of viruses that circulate in Europe and originate in Spain;
-
V2 – Viruses in this group circulate in more than 57 countries in the world on six continents.
The CPH said that such results were obtained based on analyzes taken from patients from nine regions of Ukraine: Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lvov, Kharkov, Khmelnitsky, Chernivtsi and Kiev regions.
These samples were sent by the Virological Reference Laboratory of the CPH to the experts of the World Health Organization for genome sequencing (genetic analysis).
“To correct a mutation, it is necessary to examine a sample of samples, each sample separately. The virus genome is cut into very small particles and these particles, thanks to special reagents and equipment – sequencers, are studied and recorded the changes in the genome of the virus, “explained the CPC.
The press service highlighted that as of January 2021, the cost center reference laboratory will be monthly submit a representative sample of samples for such analyzes. This is explained by the request of the WHO to increase the volume of sequencing, since recently “it is becoming increasingly important to trace changes in the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.”
Furthermore, in 2021, the Center plans to purchase a sequencer and the necessary reagents and begin research on the virus genome. based on our own reference laboratory.
Also now in sequence in Ukraine independently carried out by a group of young scientists… They are examining 200 samples taken from Ukrainians who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 in June-December. The study should end in January 2021.
