We must be open to all hypotheses – WHO
WHO experts admitted the emergence of the coronavirus not in China. However, they intend to start their investigation from Wuhan.
Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) believe that the coronavirus could have originated in other countries, and not exclusively in China. However, according to experts, it is important to start the study precisely from the Chinese city of Wuhan, where a large outbreak of COVID-19 was recorded in December 2019, said Marion Koopmans, representative of the international group of experts of the WHO, dean from the Erasmus MC Faculty of Virology in Rotterdam (Netherlands), to the CGTN television channel.
“At this stage, I don’t think we should rule anything out, but it is important to start in Wuhan, where the first major outbreak occurred. We should be open to all hypotheses,” Koopmans said.
Prior to this, Korrespondent.net reported that according to the WHO, the coronavirus will become endemic. At the same time, the virus will not pose a great threat if the vaccination of the population is effective.
We add that the majority of COVID vaccines are bought by rich countries. As a result, low- and middle-income countries cannot access vaccines.
