The head of the World Health Organization office in Ukraine, Jarno Habicht, said that by the end of the year between 7 and 9 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection will be registered in the country every day.
In an interview with Suspilny, he said that in the coming months the number of new daily patients will exceed 5,000.
According to him, this is happening in all countries, because the disease has not yet been eradicated.
«Community transmission is still observed in Ukraine. We have not reduced transmission to group distribution. (through social connections: family, class in school, employees of a department – ed.), to which many countries go. We know from our research that only one in four people wash their hands regularly. We also see that one in three people does not observe physical distance when attending various events, ”emphasized the head of the WHO office in Ukraine.
When asked how, based on his prognosis, the number of cases of the disease will increase by the end of the year, Habicht replied: “It is difficult to give an estimate. But if in December we begin to register more than 9,000 cases per day, then I will be a little more worried, “he summarized.
As of October 1, Ukraine once again recorded a record daily incidence of coronavirus: 4,069 new cases, 64 people died, 2,083 recovered.
