Ukraine’s Ministry of Health has updated the coronavirus testing algorithm. Now, the test will be performed on people who show signs of an acute respiratory viral infection.

This was stated in a briefing by the Minister of Health, Maxim Stepanov.

Previously, the tests were done on people with symptoms of COVID-19 and pneumonia, he said.

“I would like to inform you that this week we have completely updated the algorithm for tests for the presence of coronavirus infection. The diagnosis by PCR is of primary importance for laboratory diagnoses. According to the new algorithm, the laboratory examination, according to the new algorithm, will be carried out for people with suspected COVID-19 with clinical symptoms.C for any signs other acute respiratory infections and signs of pneumonia, “he said.

Screening is also introduced examination using rapid antigen tests… It takes 15 minutes. It will be carried out to people with the above symptoms, contact persons or persons returning from abroad, patients who are subject to planned hospitalization.

“One more thing. In some cases, a positive antigen test result must be confirmed by PCR… Not necessary if COVID-19 symptoms are present, test performed. If a person has no symptoms, it was contact, if there is a positive test, then they need to do PCR, “he said.

Stepanov said that by December 23 the problem of the presence of an antigen test by family doctors should be resolved.

We recall that additional quarantine restrictions come into force in Ukraine today.

In addition, the government announced an increase in quarantine from 00:00 hours on January 8 to 00:00 hours on January 25.
