European countries are gradually beginning to return to self-isolation: now Irish residents are already in quarantine, the French joined them on Friday, and German citizens will start spending their free time at home next week. In the near future, the question of limiting the movement of citizens in Austria will also be considered.
Germany and France have announced a new self-isolation regime in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases; Europe is now the leader in the number of new infections. Over the past week, more than a million patients have been added there, the World Health Organization reported.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the first to announce a four-week shutdown: Starting Monday, November 2, restaurants, bars and clubs will be closed in the country. Public recreational and cultural venues such as theaters, museums and cinemas are closing, along with gyms, swimming pools, saunas and beauty salons.
Schools and kindergartens will remain open, but even stricter hygiene measures will be followed. According to Merkel, the restrictions will be reviewed in two weeks.
The French president took the issue even more seriously: restrictive measures were introduced there from October 30, they will remain until at least December 1. Now the French need to obtain special certificates to be able to leave. In this case, you can only go to work, school or kindergarten, buy food, visit an older relative or “just get some fresh air” at home.
“The virus is circulating at a rate that even the most pessimistic forecasts could not predict.”– said the French leader.
Austria will also follow the example of its neighbors. A lighter version of self-isolation, adopted in Germany and France, could be introduced in the country next week. The second option authorities are considering is imposing a night curfew. According to local media reports, people will not be able to leave home at night without good reason.
Belgium will be closed tomorrow and until December 13 – only grocery stores and pharmacies will work, it is forbidden to meet in companies of more than 4 people. There is a record increase in infections in the country: almost 24 thousand during the last day. Until November 20, it was decided to extend the state of emergency in the Czech Republic: local hospitals designated for coronavirus patients are almost 100% full.
In recent days, Italians have been protesting across the country. Due to the introduction of new anti-coronavirus restrictions, which went into effect on Monday. The Italians did not agree with them.
People gathered in the streets, threw stones, marched and slammed plates in actions. They are also not scared by the fact that in Italy they are again registering rates of coronavirus diseases. So, last day, the crown was taken for 22 thousand. But more than 220 people died. This is the first time since May of this year. And scientists say that the crown in Italy has reached epidemic levels.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is considering a new lockdown to combat the spread of the coronavirus. The new quarantine measures may take effect as of November 4, writes The Times.
