The head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arahamia, considers the most satisfactory dates for the introduction of the blockade are December 25-26 or January 1. He explains his opinion by the fact that the period of the New Year holidays is guaranteed to provide a large number of days off for company employees and is therefore less Economic lossesinstead of entering a lock now.
David Arakhamia said this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.
The politician explained that now Ukraine is managing to cope with coronavirus patients and there is no collapse, but it is unlikely to be avoided, given the experience of European countries. It is important, says Arahamia, avoid the extremely rapid rise in daily rates for COVID-19 precisely because of the New Year holidays.
“We have to try to hold out until the New Year holidays, when 90% of businesses don’t work anyway. And then if we do a complete lockdown, the losses to the economy will be minimal,” Arahamia said.
The leader of Servant of the People pointed out that although industrial companies will be able to avoid losses, the services and entertainment sector will continue to suffer the most.
“But another month. If progression continues, the block should be done earlier. It would be ideal to hold out until the New Year holidays ”, summed up the head of the faction.
We will recall, earlier, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kirill Tymoshenko said that in Ukraine the decision on a total blockade for the New Year holidays can only be taken when they are notable the first results of the weekend quarantine.
In turn, the former head of the State Health Service Svyatoslav Protas believes that the blockade in Ukraine is not necessary, the coronavirus will already decrease after the onset of frosts. Also, 30% of the population has already had coronavirus and has antibodies against COVID-19.
And the Minister of the Interior, Arsen Avakov, announced the need to present a radical block for a period of three to four weeks. A total quarantine can be introduced as soon as the government prepares all compensation programs for companies.

The risk of a lockdown in December is very high, but the specific dates are still unknown. When to introduce full quarantine: MPs, the Prime Minister and the head of the President’s Office consulted on the “weekend quarantine” in a closed-door meeting in the Verkhovna Rada. After the meeting, the people’s deputies said they would not announce a closure for the next 2 weeks.
