On Saturday, November 28, a massive demonstration took place in Paris against the violation of freedom of expression and police arbitrariness. The protest action ended with street clashes with the police: the protesters launched fireworks and started fires, in response, the security forces used tear gas and water cannons.

A video of the events that occurred in the French capital was published on the Military Observer Telegram channel.

The reason for the demonstrations, which, in addition to Paris, were also held in other French cities, was the bill “On global security”, which the French National Assembly approved this week in first reading. The bill provides for the sanction for “spreading the image of a face or other identification element” of a policeman or gendarme, for this, one year in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.

The journalists’ unions and the opposition fear that this rule does not allow the free recording of the work of law enforcement officers during the demonstrations and “opens the door to police aggression.”

During today’s protest, protesters shouted offensive slogans against law enforcement officers and then threw bottles and fireworks at the police using fences to protect themselves. They too they set fire to street furniture and clashed with the police when they tried to block access to several streets. In response, the guards had to use tear gas and water cannons.

According to preliminary data, 37 policemen were injured during clashes with protesters.
