The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law on Ukraine’s withdrawal from the CIS agreement on intergovernmental messaging communications. This agreement, as noted in the government, represents a threat to the national interests of Ukraine.

The document was approved at today’s extraordinary government meeting.

The agreement, from which Ukraine wants to withdraw, defines the obligations in the framework of the creation of a unified system of messaging communications designed for the transmission of official, secret and especially important correspondence between members of the CIS.

Since Moscow has been designated as a central transit point, compliance with the obligations stipulated in the agreement may pose a threat to the national interests of Ukraine. This also represents a threat to the life and health of the Ukrainian couriers, who are military personnel and are at the time of delivery of correspondence in Russia.

Now the document must be examined by the Verkhovna Rada.

Let us remember that in mid-December Ukraine denounced three agreements with the CIS in the field of atomic energy. The corresponding decision was taken by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Also, in November, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to withdraw Ukraine from the CIS agreement in pursuit of an agreed monopoly policy.
