In Ukraine, over the past 4 years, the price of cigarettes has increased more… If in 2017 a pack of Ukrainian filter cigarettes cost an average of 17.47 UAH, now it is 44.4 UAH.
This is stated in the OBOZREVATEL material. Imported premium cigarettes rose in price from UAH 25.7 to UAH 59.19, or 2.3 times. This growth is associated with an increase in excise duties. And this is not the limit. In the near future, a package will increase in price to 100 UAH.
For example, as you can see in the infographic, the price increase among the five most popular products ranged from 16.9 to 51%. Depending on the diet, for some, the price of food could increase on average. not 30%, but all 50.
In general, it was assumed that the cumulative increase in wages would fully offset the increase in prices. In practice, it all depends on what foods to consume. For example, in 2017 it was possible to buy 35.7 kg of beef for the minimum wage (3,200 UAH), and now (with a minimum wage of 6,000 UAH) it is already 40.1 kg. At the same time, the situation with potatoes is fundamentally the opposite: 4 years ago, you could buy 573.4 kg for the minimum wage and now 538.5 kg. That is to say the purchasing power of the smallest salary was reduced by almost 40 kg of potatoes.
According to OBOZREVATEL estimates, the increase in excise duty will lead to the fact that the average cost of Ukrainian cigarettes will approach the 50 UAH mark. At the same time, the price of an imported premium package will rise to almost 66.8 UAH.
Remember that in Ukraine, cigarettes with flavors and different flavors may be prohibited, and tobacco products can only be sold to customers 21 years of age or older.
