Chelsea hosted Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the English Championship. The Eagles have already shown their strength, beating Mancheter United, but a streak of successes in personal encounters promised the Blues a good result. The “pensioners” literally from the first minutes rushed to the attack, but failed to create something worthwhile.
Lampard’s barriers tried to attack widely, but failed to break through the opponent’s defense. There were several half moments in the middle of the half. First Werner fired from the corner of the penalty area, but the goalkeeper managed, and then Jorginho won the rebound and sent the ball well over the opponent’s goal line.
By the end of the first half of the game, Roy Hodgson’s barriers became somewhat more active and they were much more confident in attack, but Chelsea’s defense acted carefully. Special attention should be paid to Silva, who more than once “read” the opponent’s cunning passes. The teams went to rest with a “dry” marker on the scoreboard, leaving the most interesting for the second half.
Lampard’s defenses actively started the second half and quickly opened the scoring: Chilwell reacted to the bounce of the ball in someone else’s penalty area and shot Guaita’s goal. 1: 0. After that, the “pensioners” did not stop and continued to attack, trying to develop the minimum advantage already existing in the account.
And they did! Chilwell hit the ball softly from the left wing and Zuma headed the ball into the net. 2: 0. Roy Hodgson tried to change the course of the game with substitutions, but they didn’t help. But Chelsea was able to score more, taking advantage of the opponent’s mistakes. First, Mitchell dropped Abraham in his own penalty area – Jorginho confidently implemented the “sentence.”
Later, Saho took down Havertz. Abraham wanted to steal the ball from Jorginho to hit the penalty spot, but Azpilicueta drove the young forward. Jorginho, by the way, again left the goalkeeper without possibilities. The final whistle of the referee registered a landslide victory for Frank Lampard’s team.
Chelsea – Crystal Palace 4: 0
