British special forces assaulted oil tanker captured in the English Channel

The assault was carried out after receiving a distress signal from the crew, as seven stowaways began to show aggression.

UK Naval Special Forces raided a tanker in the English Channel following a report of a crew hijacking. This was reported by the BBC on Monday, October 26.

The operation took place overnight on board the ship Nave Andromeda, with Liberian registration, operated by a Greek company. Seven stowaways began to show aggression, after which the crew gave a distress signal.

Defense Minister Ben Wallace and Interior Minister Priti Patel have allowed the military to board the ship “to protect the life and safety of the ship that was allegedly hijacked,” the defense department reported.

“The armed forces seized control of the ship and seven people were arrested,” the ministry added.

According to unofficial information, the entire operation lasted nine minutes. All 22 members of the crew, locked in one of the ship’s rooms, are safe.

“Seven stowaways, presumably Nigerians seeking asylum in the UK, were arrested and handed over to the Hampshire police,” the newspaper writes.

It is also noted that the tanker left Lagos in Nigeria on October 5 and was heading for an oil refinery near Southampton. As it approached its destination east of the Isle of Wight on Sunday morning, seven stowaways on board resorted to violence.

In turn, lawyers for the ship’s owners – the Greek shipping company Navios – argue that the crew had long known the stowaways on board. Their fears for their lives emerged at 10:04 a.m. GMT, when the ship was six miles from shore, police said.

We will remember that once a submarine burned near the coast of Great Britain. Puffs of smoke billowed over the submarine, and six tugs were seen around the witnesses.

It was also reported that in the port of Yuzhny a tugboat crashed into a ship with tons of ammonia on board. The tugboat crashed into a gas transporter carrying 15,000 tons of ammonia. There was no leak, but the side of the container was wrinkled.
