Brazil ranks third in the world for the incidence of coronavirus and second for mortality from its complications.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is convinced that his country has faced the new coronavirus pandemic. This was reported on Friday, September 11, by the newspaper O Globo.
“We have practically defeated the pandemic. The government has done everything possible to minimize its negative consequences,” the publication quotes the Brazilian leader.
It is noted that Bolsonaro listed the efforts made by the authorities in the fight against the pandemic.
Thus, he recalled the credit support for small businesses, the payment of social benefits, which 65 million people received, as well as the allocation of funds to regional and local administrations for the organization of medical care for those infected.
At the same time, the country’s leader accused the Brazilian press of being silent on the government’s successes, while foreign media published “good news that Brazil is among the countries least affected by the pandemic,” the newspaper said.
According to the latest data, 4,283,978 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the laboratory in Brazil, of which 3,530,655 have recovered and 130,474 have died. The country ranks third in the world for the incidence of coronavirus (by sacrificing the United States and India) and second in mortality from its complications (by sacrificing the United States).
As reported, a week ago, the number of COVID-19 infections in the country exceeded four million, while there were more than 26.5 million infected worldwide.
