The results of the transcription of the flight recorders of the An-26 training plane that crashed in the Kharkiv region helped to reveal “serious violations both in the performance of flight missions and in the organization of flights in general” said the head of the government commission to investigate the causes of the accident, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Urusky.
Decoding the black boxes of the crashed An-26 trainer near the military airfield in Chuguev, Kharkiv region, made it possible to establish the content of the negotiations between the crew members and the flight directors. This was announced on October 7 on Facebook by the head of the government commission to investigate the causes of the plane crash, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Urusky.
“The technical reason for the abnormal operation of the left engine and the operation of the pressure drop sensor according to the PCM (torque meter) has been established. This happened as a consequence of the failure of one of the engine control system units. The investigation showed the presence of serious violations both in the performance of flight tasks and in the organization of flights in the complex, “wrote Urusky.
He added that the government commission to investigate the causes of the disaster continues to function.
“The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is due to complete its own internal investigation on October 12. Subsequently, the materials will be transferred to the military police stations, and approximately after October 15, they plan to begin the process of paying compensation to the families of the victims, “said the deputy prime minister.
An An-26 training plane crashed and caught fire two kilometers from the Chuguev military airfield on the night of September 25. There were 27 people on board: seven military personnel (crew and instructors) and 20 cadets from the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
26 people died. The life of a sole survivor, a cadet Vyacheslav Zolochevsky, nothing threatens.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, a few minutes before the disaster the aircraft commander reported a left engine failure and requested a landing, however, for an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed on the side of the runway.
