Bitcoin miners mined four blocks in less than a minute

Abnormal activity was observed on the Bitcoin network last night when four new blocks were logged for 46 seconds. In total, 12 blocks appeared in one hour, although the average figure provided by the algorithm is 6.

Data: BTC.com

According to BTC.com, the abnormal activity lasted for several hours when 7 to 12 new blocks were registered for each of them.

The Blockchain.com service did not record the growth of the network hash, which as of May 1 was 112.4 EH / s. Bitcoin’s computing level hit a record high (136.3 EH / s) in early March, but then a decline followed along with the market crash.

Next week there will be another new calculation of mining complexity, an indicator that regulates the speed of mining blocks. According to BTC.com, it is expected that it will not change much (+ 0.19%). Two weeks ago, the difficulty increased by 8.45%, reaching 15.96 T. This is close to the record value of 16.55 T, also observed in early March.

Bitcoin’s halving will be done at a fixed block height of 630,000, so speeding up the production of new blocks may bring the event closer. But, according to The Halvening, a block reward cut is still planned for May 12.
