On Sunday, February 21, in Slovenian Pokljuka, the women’s mass start took place as part of the 2021 Biathlon World Championship. Ukraine in the race was represented by Elena Pidgrushna and Daria Blashko.
Pidgrushnaya in the middle of the race, thanks to a perfect shot in the prone position, was among the contenders for the medals. However, the 34-year-old Ukrainian woman missed 2 goals out of 10 and finished in 12th place.
Blaszko ran six penalty laps at a time and was second to last, losing five minutes to the winner of the race. Only sprint bronze medalist Anna Sola performed worse, missing 11 goals.
Lisa Teresa Hauser became world champion, only she managed to avoid a single failure in the race. The rest of the medals in the last lap were played by Italian Lisa Vittozzi and three Norwegians at the same time: Tandrevold, Eckhoff, Royseland.
Vittozzi quickly lost more than 10 seconds from the lead, while Eckhoff and Royseland battled for bronze in the final streak, where Tiril was stronger. The silver medal was won by her friend Ingrid.
