On Wednesday, January 27, the 2021 European Biathlon Championship began in Duszniki-Zdroj, Poland, with the women’s individual race.

Ukrainian Anastasia Merkushina, 26, reached 20 goals and became the runner-up in Europe. She only lost 2.9 seconds to the experienced polka Monika Hojnisch-Starega, who was not prevented by a mistake from winning the gold medal.

The bronze medalist was the Russian Larisa Kuklina, who constantly performs in the World Cup. A total of 122 biathletes entered the individual race, 118 of them finished, two did not start and another, the Romanian Anastasia Tolmacheva, retired after not closing a single target on the first shot.

The most titled participant of the race, Vita Semerenko, showed excellent speed on the track and provided she had a perfect shot she would have won, but only a three minute penalty on the second stage allowed her to take only 11th place. But Irina Petrenko did it without mistakes, but she lost quite a bit to the medalists on the track. As a result, you have the fifth line of the completion protocol.

Ekaterina Bekh and Nadezhda Belkina fired two inaccurate shots each and took 9th and 23rd places, respectively, and Anna Krivonos threw three misses in the fifth decade.
