The Belarusian security forces began to resent the actions of the authorities.
Security officials said that people “illegally holding power in the country” issued illegal orders and called new presidential elections.
In Belarus, more than a hundred current and former employees of the security and law enforcement agencies, as well as the military, signed an open letter announcing the criminal orders of the authorities and calling for new presidential elections. The text of the appeal on Saturday, December 12, was published by the NEXTA Live Telegram channel.
The authors of the letter demand to invalidate the elections of August 9, 2020 and to hold new elections in accordance with international rules. In his opinion, this is the only way to resolve the crisis, unite society and restore the rule of law and legality in the country.
At the same time, the letter emphasizes that the actions of the leaders of various Belarusian power and law enforcement structures led to the discrediting of security officials in the eyes of society, “inflicting an irreparable blow to the prestige of the profession”.
“Most of us are worthy people and true professionals in their field. However, a large number of our colleagues were dragged into the execution of criminal orders by a group of people who have illegal power in our country,” say the signatories .
For security reasons, the signatures are collected anonymously. The names of the signatories will be made public when their number exceeds one thousand.
Earlier it was reported that the head of the opposition in Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, asked the United States to investigate the actions of the Belarusian security forces.
