Management of American companies Sandvine helps Alexander Lukashenko’s regime filter Internet traffic in Belarus. This is confirmed by the recording of the telephone conversation of the company’s management, which the journalists received.
It is reported by the US agency Bloomberg.
In a recording of a telephone conversation, which was made available to Bloomberg journalists, Sandvine’s management confirmed that they provided the Belarusian authorities with special equipment, with the help of which the Internet was artificially blocked in Belarus on August 9.
Sandvine’s management in the recording assures that the company did not violate the US sanctions against Belarus, and also concludes that restricting access to certain materials on the Internet “is not part of human rights.”
Furthermore, as evidenced by the recording of the conversation, Sandvine plans to keep this information secret and threatens to fire his employees for distributing it.
It should be noted that on August 9, protest actions began in Belarus for the falsification of the presidential elections. That same night, there were massive problems with Internet access in the country. The same problems were observed in the country during the following protests.
It should be recalled that during a large-scale protest in Minsk on September 6, mobile operators limited access to the Internet.
