Belarus will prohibit the entry of foreigners and stateless persons into its territory to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The ban will go into effect on November 1.

This was reported by the Belarusian State Border Committee.

However, the ban does not apply to arrival in Belarus by air through the Minsk National Airport.

The prohibition will also not apply to the following categories:

  • foreigners with diplomatic or service passports;
  • heads or members of official delegations;
  • foreigners providing international assistance to Belarus;
  • drivers of vehicles that carry out international transport or transport of international postal shipments, as well as ship crews, train crews and locomotives;
  • foreigners who are spouses, parents or children of Belarusian citizens;
  • foreigners who have a work permit and documents that confirm it;
  • Russians traveling in transit through Belarus to Russia;
  • foreigners who are sent to visit a seriously ill person or to the funeral of a relative;
  • foreigners transporting stem cells or organs for transplantation;
  • foreigners in transit to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

Citizens of Belarus, foreigners who are the spouses, parents or children of Belarusians, as well as foreigners entitled to permanent residence in Belarus, must undergo mandatory self-isolation after crossing the border within 10 calendar days.

As a reminder, on October 29, Belarus announced the closure of borders with all neighboring states except Russia to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said they will take action if they show that Belarus’ decision to close the borders is not related to the coronavirus.
