The United States has transferred the 2nd Tank Battalion from the 69th Tank Regiment as part of operations “Enhanced Forward Presence” and “Atlantic Resolution,” Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, after a meeting with the head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, spoke about the situation along the western borders of the country. In a comment to the state agency BelTA on September 12, he spoke about the transfer of a US tank battalion.

“Today we see that in the framework of the operations ‘Enhanced Forward Presence’ and ‘Atlantic Resolution’, the movement of NATO troops is taking place in the adjacent territory,” Khrenin said.

In particular, the minister pointed to the transfer to 15 kilometers from the state border of the 2nd tank battalion of the 69th tank regiment of the United States.

According to him, the same transfer took place in the spring of this year.

“But this also cannot help but worry us that some 500 people, 29 tanks, 43 Bradley fighting vehicles will be involved in the immediate vicinity of our border,” Khrenin said.

The minister noted the intensification of aviation flights along the Belarusian border and the carrying out of reconnaissance on the territory of Belarus.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko put Belarusian army units on the western borders fully prepared for combat on August 18. On August 15, he ordered the transfer of an airborne brigade from Vitebsk to Grodno, on the western border of the country.

Lukashenka also claimed that neighboring countries are increasing their military power.

Look out the window: tanks and planes taking off 15 minutes from our borders. And it is not in vain! NATO troops are roaring at our doors. There is an accumulation of military power on the western borders of our country: Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, “Lukashenko said.

NATO denied these accusations.

From August 17 to 20, military exercises were held in Belarus, near the border with Lithuania.

The protests have continued in Belarus since August 9 following the announcement of the results of the presidential elections. Your participants call for Lukashenka’s resignation, fair re-elections and the prosecution of the security officers who brutally beat people.
