Crimea was again attributed to Russia

This is not the first time this situation has arisen; previously, the agency called it a mistake to mention Crimean cities as Russian.

The British news agency BBC published an interactive map showing the cities in which the rallies were held in support of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, including Simferopol and Sevastopol in the list of Russian cities, Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said on Twitter.

At the same time, the publication noted that the Russian Federation annexed Crimea and Sevastopol in 2014.

In turn, Nikolenko said that Sevastopol and Simferopol had never been cities in Russia, and that Crimea was not annexed, but occupied.

“BBC Russian, do not promote false Russian narratives. Sevastopol and Simferopol have never been Russian cities. Crimea is not annexed, but occupied. International law matters,” he wrote.

Note that this is not the first time this situation has occurred. And more than once the agency called the mention of the Russian city of Crimea a mistake. However, this time no reaction has yet been received.

We will recall, earlier, the French newspaper Le Monde published a map of the spread of the coronavirus in the world, where it designated the occupied Crimea as the territory of Russia.

On January 23, a wave of mass protests broke out across Russia in support of Alexei Navalny, who was immediately arrested upon returning to his homeland from Germany, where he was being treated for poisoning in Russia with the chemical warfare agent Novichok.
