Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh could have ended as early as October this year. In late October, he persuaded the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to stop the offensive.
This was reported by the Russian agency RIA Novosti.
According to Putin, the conflict could have ended on October 19 and 20. Then, as he said, Aliyev agreed to stop the hostilities on the condition that the refugees returned to the city of Shusha.
However, as the Russian president emphasized, the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, opposed this decision.
Let us remind you that on the night of November 9, the signing of an agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on the end of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh was known. The agreement also provided for the entry of Russian peacekeepers into the conflict zone to monitor the ceasefire. This deal is in fact the surrender of Yerevan.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, on November 14, Armenia and Azerbaijan exchanged the bodies of the dead during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The exchange process was carried out with the participation of Russian military personnel.
