Foreign government hackers stolen data various US departments, including Ministry of Finance and Directorate of Communications and Information.
Reuters reports it with reference to its sources. They clarify that the attackers gained access to the email and data intercepted for several months.
Interlocutors did not specify which government in the country was behind the attack, however, according to the Washington Post, the speech talking about Russian hackers from the APT29 group (Cozy Bear) who works for the Russian authorities.
The attackers managed bypass Microsoft Office 365 protections and authorizations.
