The resuscitator of the coronavirus department of the Cherkasy regional hospital Yevhen Gorenko, who became the first person to be vaccinated in Ukraine, tolerated vaccination well and advised not to be afraid to undergo this necessary procedure.

“I feel good, nothing bothers me, we are in our workplaces,” said the doctor on the air of the OBOZREVATEL television channel.

He admitted that he was concerned because it was the first vaccination against the coronavirus in Ukraine. “I am a doctor, but I am also a person. And I understand that the reaction to drugs can be different for each person,” Gorenko explained.

At the same time, answering the question of what advice can be given to those who are afraid of getting vaccinated, he stressed: “Being in the intensive care unit of a covid hospital is much more scary. Believe me, it is extremely difficult to treat people Unfortunately, it often ends in death. “

The doctor added that in November last year, COVID-19 was mildly ill, but this did not become an obstacle to vaccination.

According to the doctor, for the vaccine to be fully displayed in Ukraine, it is necessary that at least 70% of the population be vaccinated. However, he predicted that the formation of herd immunity will take at least 1.5 years.

“Unfortunately, the virus mutates, unfortunately, its spread is much faster than the vaccination of the population. Unfortunately, the migration of people to other countries, from other countries is constant. For this to happen quickly, you probably need a complete isolation of the country, which is unrealistic. And total vaccination, “Gorenko said.

As OBOZREVATEL wrote, on Wednesday February 24 Ukraine launched a vaccination campaign against the coronavirus with 500 thousand doses. Evgeny Gorenko was the first to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
