AstraZeneca suspends coronavirus vaccine trials again

Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca has once again suspended trials of its coronavirus vaccine in the United States.

This happened due to the clarification of the circumstances of the appearance of an unexplained illness in one of the volunteers, Reuters reports.

The hiring of volunteers for the vaccine testing program was also suspended. It will not resume until at least September 17.

How long it will take for the US Food and Drug Administration to complete the audit is still unknown.

It should be noted that vaccine trials have resumed in the UK and Brazil.

As previously reported by OBOZREVATEL:

  • Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca suspended all trials of its coronavirus vaccine on September 9 due to an unexplained illness in one of the volunteers.

  • This is a standard precaution in vaccine trials to ensure that experimental vaccines do not cause serious reactions in volunteers.

  • Already on September 13, the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca resumed clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine, which were interrupted due to a rare illness of one of the study participants.
