Artem YASHKIN: “Bezus and Yaremchuk got burned”

Former midfielder for Dynamo and the Ukrainian national team Artem Yashkin He shared his opinion on the Kiev team’s advance to the Champions League group stage after the victory over Gent (3: 0).

– In the old days, the Dynamo’s entry into the Champions League group round was common. Is it a success now?

– If we analyze the last years, then it is. I would like to hope that the Dynamo’s black streak in this regard is over.

– What is the main reason for the Dynamo’s confident victory over Gent in the second leg?

– To be honest, in the first meeting, the Kiev fans did not have big problems. Let’s face it, the “blue and white” were lucky with the draw. “Gent” – an opponent, especially in such a state, was Dynamo in the teeth. But this in no way diminishes the merits of Mircea Lucescu’s charges. The correct tactics were chosen for the matches, the players did almost everything the mentor told them. The level of the Dynamo players turned out to be higher than that of the Belgian team.

– There was a lot of talk about the Ukrainian footballers of “Gent” Bezus and Yaremchuk. Do you think the Belgians didn’t have enough of these artists or would it not affect the overall balance of power?

– Hard to say. Perhaps due to a strong desire to prove themselves, the boys were exhausted. Yaremchuk was injured out of nowhere, and before Bezus’s elimination it was clear that he was the leader there in the middle of the field. In general, in the return game, “Ghent” lacked harmony.
