Today in England at New Wembley Stadium the match for the English Super Cup took place, in which the champion of the country Liverpool and the winner of the National Cup Arsenal faced each other. Jurgen Klopp’s players were considered by many experts, fans and bookmakers as the favorites of the game, which he played the previous season with a lot of confidence and, by the way, played in the Super Cup a year ago with Manchester City. But then they didn’t get the trophy: Liverpool lost in the penalty shootout. Unfortunately, for the fans of this English club, this time they were disappointed.

Arsenal managed to score a goal quite quickly. In the 12th minute, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fell into the arms of his teammates. He received the ball near the opponents’ penalty area, drifted slightly from the left to the center and unexpectedly shot hard into the far top corner of the goal; a desperate leap from Alisson Becker didn’t help him rescue the team.

Going forward, the game unfolded with a slight Liverpool lead, although they had little chance of scoring. In the first half, Robertson fired dangerously from the left several times, but none of his teammates could take advantage of them.

After the break in the 56th minute, Mané could have scored, but when he ran off one by one with Martínez, he failed to get past the goalkeeper. And yet, in the 73rd minute, Minamino, who came on as a substitute, managed to play the ball. In the scoring attack, Salah helped him, however, the referee on the field and the VAR saw this episode with suspicion from the Egyptian’s hand. However, the goal was conceded. And in the 80th minute Manet could have led Liverpool to victory in regulation time, but lost the duel against Martinez again.

Thus, the fate of the English Super Cup was decided by a penalty. Liverpool did not score with Brewster, who came on as a substitute in the referee’s injury time. He sent the ball over the goal. All five players scored at Arsenal, and Aubameyang himself scored the winning point.
