Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that the Armenian side is ready to make concessions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, if Azerbaijan is also prepared to do so.

«The resolution of conflicts must be carried out on the basis of mutual concessions … Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia are ready for such concessions, for which Azerbaijan will be ready, “he said in an interview with AFP.

Pashinyan’s press secretary, Mane Gevorkian, urged not to take his words out of context.

Fierce fighting between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh began on the night of September 27. Azerbaijan and Armenia introduced martial law and announced the mobilization of the reserve.

The past nine days have become the deadliest in the region since the 1990s, when some 30,000 people died.

The fighting spread beyond the disputed region. On October 4, Nagorno-Karabakh announced that the Azeri army had fired rockets at its main city, Stepanakert. Baku stated that rocket attacks were launched from the territory of Armenia against several cities in Azerbaijan.

Turkey, which supports Baku, claims that the Azerbaijani armed forces, during the large-scale hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, seized control of 22 settlements, including the city of Jebrail.

The international community called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to immediately cease hostilities and to sit at the negotiating table.
