Armenian President Armen Sarkisian stated this in an interview with the Russian newspaper “Kommersant”.
According to the Armenian president, if Azerbaijan refuses to resolve the conflict through negotiations, Armenia will recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“That is, the non-recognition of independence by Armenia is related only to the fact that the Armenian side wants to solve the problem through peaceful negotiations,” he emphasized.
Let us remind you that in the early days of the worsening conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Yerevan announced its intention to consider the question of recognition of the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister of Armenia declared that the decision on the recognition or non-recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh in Yerevan would be made after analyzing the situation.
In addition, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, threatened to break diplomatic relations with any country that recognizes the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
