Armenia can recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh

Pashinyan spoke about the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh

The Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh or the Republic of Artsakh was established after a referendum in 1991, Azerbaijan does not recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Armenian government intends to consider the issue of the possibility of recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh republic, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a speech in the country’s parliament.

This issue is already on the agenda of the Armenian government.

“We must seriously discuss this. We are considering all the scenarios for the development of the events,” he said.

Pashinyan also said that the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh could go beyond the Caucasus region.

“The war can go beyond the region and have a broader scale. I call on the international community to use all levers and prevent Turkey from being involved in the conflict,” Pashinyan emphasized.

He believes that the OSCE and the international community should intervene and focus on the seriousness of this situation.

Pashinyan added that the world is now on the brink of a full-scale war in the South Caucasus, which may have the most unpredictable consequences.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic or Republic of Artsakh was established after a referendum in 1991. Azerbaijan does not recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh and believes that this territory was occupied by Armenia. The world community did not recognize the Republic of Artsakh either.

Let us remember that on Sunday Azerbaijan launched an offensive on the line of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. According to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense, at least 6 settlements are already under Baku’s control.
