Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Shushan Stepanyan showed a video showing the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces.
The offensive of the Azerbaijani army in Nagorno-Karabakh was stopped on 3 October. Shushan Stepanyan, representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, announced this on his Facebook.
“The Artsakh Defense Army succeeded in suppressing the enemy’s large-scale attack that began today. Our forces counterattacked in one direction. Strong defensive battles are being fought in the rest of the units,” he wrote.
He also posted a video showing the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani forces.
In 1991, Nagorno-Karabakh, with the support of Armenia, declared its independence from Azerbaijan. This led to hostilities that lasted until 1994. The armed conflict ended with the signing of the Bishkek Protocol on Armistice and Ceasefire, but from time to time armed clashes broke out between the parties. During the conflict, more than 30 thousand people died in the region. Azerbaijan considers Nagorno-Karabakh as a territory occupied by Armenia.
