A new humanitarian truce in Nagorno-Karabakh, where armed clashes between the Armenian and Azerbaijani armies continue, will begin on Monday, October 26.
This is stated in a joint statement by Washington, Baku and the United States, published on the website of the United States Department of State on Sunday, October 25,
The humanitarian ceasefire will take effect at 08:00 local time (06:00 Kiev time) on October 26, 2020. The United States facilitated intensive talks between the foreign ministers and the co-chairs of the Minsk Group to bring closer to Armenia and Azerbaijan to a peaceful resolution of Nagorno. – the Karabakh conflict, “the statement said.
It should be recalled that on September 27 the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced the start of an offensive along the entire line of contact in the Karabakh conflict zone. The department reported that a “counter-offensive operation” is being carried out in response to provocations from the Armenian side.
In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Azerbaijan attacked the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).
Since then, Armenia and Azerbaijan have sat at the negotiating table twice. The parties managed to agree to the establishment of a ceasefire in various formats, however, shortly after the signing of the relevant agreements, hostilities resumed in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
In turn, today the President of the United States, Donald Trump, described the Nagorno-Karabakh war as an “easy case” and promised to intervene and resolve the conflict.
