David Arahamia explained why the president’s bill was not considered
Parliament closely follows the meetings of the Constitutional Court and is ready to move immediately to more decisive measures in the event of new threats, said David Arahamia.
The Verkhovna Rada already has at its disposal a whole arsenal of legislative initiatives to prevent possible anti-state decisions of the Constitutional Court. This was stated by the head of the Servants of the People faction, David Arakhamia, reports Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday, November 3.
According to him, the bill of authorship of a group of people’s deputies headed by the spokesman Dmitry Razumkov, considered by the profile committee of the Verkhovna Rada, is transitory, but it does not solve the global crisis situation that arose after the decision. of the Constitutional Court.
“There is no intrigue about the bills considered by the commission. The deputies are looking for options for an optimal way out of the crisis. There is a softer option. And there is a more responsible and harsh one. Today, the corresponding parliamentary commission considered only the Bill on the immediate return of statements. As a kind of transition project, allowing at least partially to return everything to the legal channel. Although we fully understand that this project does not solve the global problem, “said Arahamia.
In his opinion, the presidential bill on the resignation of the current composition of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine sets the accents much more clearly and more correctly solves the key task of restoring the rule of law.
Arakhamia pointed out that the president’s bill was not considered at all by the commission, since, in the opinion of the deputies, it is “an extremely effective educational weapon, but for a total correction of the situation.”
The head of the Servant of the People faction pointed out that in recent days a whole arsenal of legislative initiatives has appeared to prevent new anti-state decisions by the CCU. Among them is the “procedural route” to change the proportion of votes when making decisions by the Constitutional Court or change the minimum quota when making decisions.
“Or it is even possible to change the budget financing of the Constitutional Court. Although, without a doubt, all these are half measures that do not allow the system to be fully restored. This problem is only solved with the President’s bill on a complete restart of the Constitutional Court “, he is convinced.
Arakhamia explained that today the parliament is proceeding simultaneously according to various scenarios.
“We are urgently returning the electronic declarations. We are making a political declaration to the Constitutional Court with an appeal for voluntary resignation. This is in everyone’s best interest. And we are also beginning to work on the procedure to approve all other initiatives legally,” he listed .
Arahamia also added that the parliament is closely following the Constitutional Court meetings and “is ready to move immediately to more decisive measures in the event of new threats to the anti-corruption infrastructure or key reforms in the country.”
Earlier Tuesday, the head of the Constitutional Court, Aleksandr Tupitskiy, asked President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to put aside emotions and resolve the constitutional crisis by legal means. According to the head of the KSU, “blood can overwhelm the country.”
Also today, the popular deputies called for the resignation of the judges of the Constitutional Court. The corresponding appeal was signed by 150 deputies. However, according to media reports, the judges see no reason for his resignation and do not plan to resign.
