In addition to the $ 399 flagship Apple Watch Series 6 smartwatch with a blood oxygen sensor, Apple also introduced the more affordable Apple Watch SE today. Similar to the previously released iPhone SE, the Watch SE is Apple’s first affordable smartwatch.
If Watch Series 6 is an upgrade from Watch Series 5, then Watch SE is actually a replacement for the very popular Watch Series 3. By the way, the latter will remain on sale at the same price of $ 199. As for the Apple Watch SE , the new product is priced at $ 279.
Apple Watch SE retains all the key features of the Series 3, including fall detection, always-on compass and altimeter, spill-resistant design, family settings, clock face swapping, and sleep monitoring. The novelty also received some of the distinctive features of the old Apple Watch Series 6.
The hardware base of the Apple Watch SE is the S5 processor, which, according to the manufacturer, will provide twice the performance compared to the Series 3. The Watch SE also surpasses the Watch Series 3 in terms of display: it is 30% more great on the new article.
That said, the popular Apple Watch SE cannot boast of the Always On Display feature that Apple added to the Watch Series 5 last year.
Externally, the Apple Watch SE resembles the Series 4 model, which Apple discontinued with the launch of the Series 5 last year.
The Apple Watch SE is also compatible with all brand name bands, including the new one-piece “Solo Loop” and the “Braided Solo Loop.”
Apple Watch SE is offered in two versions: 40 and 44 mm. They will be available in Bluetooth and LTE versions.
It will run watchOS 7, which Apple unveiled at WWDC and will be available to owners of older models tomorrow.
