On Thursday 21 January, in Antholz, Italy, the women’s individual race took place as part of the seventh stage of the World Cup.
30-year-old Ukrainian biathlete Yulia Dzhima hit all 20 goals and took second place. She only lost to Austrian Lisa Hauser, who won her debut career victory. French Anais Chevalier-Boucher closed the top three.
Jim is the only biathlete in this race who did not miss. Hauser and Chevalier-Boucher each got a penalty minute each, but were faster on the track. Italy’s Dorothea Wierer stopped in fourth position with two inaccurate shots.
The captain of the Ukraine women’s team, Olena Pidgrushnaya, took 16th place with a penalty, Valya Semerenko missed two goals and showed the 28th final time, and Daria Blashko, due to the slow speed on the track, did not even enter between the top 50. Another Ukrainian Vita Semerenko entered the race, but did not come out.
Note that Jim’s silver medal is the first prize of the Ukrainian national team this season at the World Cup. Also, Jima, thanks to his successful performance, qualified for the massive start race on Saturday, January 23rd.
