Android update has broken Samsung smartphones

Samsung has stopped updating Android for some of its smartphones.

SamMobile reported this with a link to social media.

The company has stopped updating Android 10 for Galaxy M31 smartphones due to technical issues. Previously, users had complained that the M315FXXU1ATD1 firmware was causing software problems.

In particular, device owners reported that Android devices had broken the on-off function. In some cases, the devices restarted and stopped working.

The post doesn’t mention the cause of the failures, however the errors are believed to be pervasive in nature, but in most cases they complained only to Indian Samsung users.

The owners of the Galaxy M31 were outraged, even as the company’s service centers closed due to a coronavirus pandemic.

Samsung has stopped downloading the update, and journalists have advised affected users to return to the previous firmware.

SamMobile said owners of the Galaxy A70 smartphones faced a similar problem previously. Users have complained that the devices stopped working after the update to Android 10.

Google and Apple have announced the creation of a joint system that will track the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.
