The government commission to investigate the AN-26 disaster established the causes of the accident. Once the reasons have been established, the commission completes its work.

This was stated in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the head of the commission, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleg Urusky.

He noted that on Thursday, October 22, the commission approved a preliminary report on the results of the investigation. This document will be made public at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on October 28.

Urusky mentioned the main causes of the disaster, which the commission was able to establish.

“The commission revealed systemic irregularities in the organization of the flights. That is, from the command of the Air Force to the brigade where this tragedy occurred,” said the deputy prime minister.

According to him, both the main causes of the disaster and the indirect ones were established. So, among a number of reasons, there are pilot errors and technical failures of the aircraft, namely the failure of the PRT-24 system (the “limit temperature control” system).

Urusky pointed out that this technical malfunction caused an abnormal situation on board, but should not have caused the plane crash. In this case, the human factor played an important role.

“To our great regret, the commission confirms that during the flights, not only the latter, but also others, there were many violations, including by the crew and flight managers,” he stated.

The full text of the interview with Deputy Prime Minister Urusky will be published on the RBC-Ukraine website next week.

We will remember, on the night of September 25 in Chuguev, the AN-26 military plane crashed. On board were 27 people: officers and cadets from the Kharkov National Air Force University. Only one cadet survived.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the investigation considered four versions of the AN-26 military plane crash in Chuguev.
