Amnesty after the war in Donbass will depend on the severity of the crimes

The deputy prime minister and minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, stressed that the amnesty in Donbas will be introduced depending on the seriousness of the crimes. The question of the organization of the procedure itself remains uncertain.

The minister said this in an interview with Zn.ua.

He reiterated that after the unemployment there will be no amnesty for all the participants in the hostilities on the side of the militants.

“The question is who will do this. We need to create some temporary courts, even with an international presence, to guarantee trust, as this system will not work without trust. Maybe they will be temporary commissions. This does not mean that a person may not appear later. In a few years, but then the Ukrainian courts, prosecutors and law enforcement agencies will work. The key differentiating element in the amnesty will be the severity of the crime, “Reznikov said.

We will recall, the deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group Vitold Fokin declared the need to declare a general amnesty. Without this, he said, it will be impossible to achieve peace in Donbass. After a while, Fokine was removed from office and removed from the delegation.

Reznikov also stressed that the negotiations in the Minsk format will not lead to the end of the war in Donbas. This is just a platform for smaller inquiries.

Furthermore, the minister is confident that the full reintegration of Donbass will take at least 25 years. According to him, claims that reintegration is possible in one or two years are due to misunderstandings.
